Stage FVA
The weekend of 17 April 2010 will forever be remembered by the five lucky winners, who spent an extraordinary weekend in Fiorano as real protagonists.
The young guests were chosen for being the finest amongst the best participants from all over the world in the FVA. Over 20,000 Ferraristi from 88 countries participated in the competition, held on the virtual circuits of Fiorano, Mugello and the Nürburgring of the Ferrari Virtual Academy.
The adventure started on Friday, 15 April, when the doors of Ferrari opened for the two Italians David Greco and Matteo Vecchioni, for Jon Tanko from Spain, for the German Martin Kronke and Joao Nunes from Portugal, who went for some introductory tests, while on Saturday a training session was held with the simulator used by the Ferrari Driver Academy, preparing the participants like real drivers, so they were ready to experience the most enthusiastic moments of their lives in the cockpit of a Formula Abarth, becoming racing drivers for one day.
At the end of the session Jon Tanko, who drove the day's fastest lap (1.15.078), spoke about the excitement. With his lap time he also confirmed the result reached on the virtual version of the track: I almost thought I knew the track, because I had driven it already on the Ferrari Virtual Academy and I remembered almost every single corner. This was an incredible experience and a unique emotion. It's just you with the car and your heartbeat. The smell of the tyres and the sound of the engine. It was just like a dream.
Under the supervision of Luca Baldisserri the five participants had the possibility to enjoy their really unique experience: Over three days we offered a progressive programme, which enabled them to reach the limit in a completely safe way behind the wheel of a Formula Abarth. Also from our point of view this experience was very helpful to analyse the impact the Ferrari Driver Academy courses can have on non-professional drivers.
The two Ferrari Driver Academy drivers Raffaele Marciello and Brandon Maisano, both with experience in the Formula Abarth, were on hand with help and advice for the five winners.
